Troll Ball

In practise the rules are often made up on the day and people play along with it...it's just a game.'

“Troll Ball; A game for Heroes, plus all the troll you can eat.”

Two Teams, One Troll, One purpose.

The Rules of the Game are simple.

Each team consists of (usually) seven players; the team may dedicate one Healer and as many Courier’s or Guardians as they like. There are two hoops/circles at either end of the field, to score a point a team must get the ball from their end of the field (or wherever it falls) and place it into the opposing teams hoop, the winner is the first to “Three goals”.

The use of magic, alchemy and physicians drugs is not allowed, what the Referee doesn’t see on the other hand is a different matter. Bribery is ‘discouraged‘.

Any activities considered potentially harmful to other players other than subduing their body parts or body itself will be considered a foul.

(For OOC reasons players acting in an unsafe manner will warned or asked to leave the field by the Referee, a reminder that over zealous Physical Contact is not acceptable nor is shield barging. If you have to ask whether behaviour is safe or not, it probably isn’t. Use common sense. )

“The Referee’s decision is Final!”

There are essentially Three Roles within the team, these are:

Harasser / Guardian: Armed with the bigger weapons to knock out the opponents and the heavier armour to take the damage, these are the meat shields of the team.

Courier: Usually armed with nothing but speed and dexterity, they travel the field cradling the ball until they break through the enemy guardians and place the head into the scoring region. Couriers are usually chosen by the team from their fastest members before the match. They may wield any weapon or even wear armour but overloading your Courier demeans their purpose.

Healer: Trained to revive the wounds of the fellow team members they have the power to turn the tide in a game; they may however only carry a single short weapon and wear no armour.

Healing

Wounds in the game of Troll ball are rarely lethal due to the use of rebated weapons and there are (usually) skilled physicians on hand to make sure that any serious wounds are dealt with.

During the game, once a player has been hit in a critical location (Body or possibly the Head if by accident) they are unconscious until the end of the round or until their team healer revives them. This revival takes the Healer 10 seconds of uninterrupted shaking, poking, prodding, rubbing, kicking or caressing (whatever they feel is appropriate) to accomplish, after which the player may act normally.

Non-critical damage (Limbs) will render the location hit unusable until the player spends 30 seconds beating back feeling into the limb. The team Healer can accomplish this same process in only 10 seconds.

Scoring a Goal

As mentioned previously, to score a goal the ball must be placed within the hoop at the opposing team’s end of the field. For a goal to count it must be placed by hand (or body) in the goal by a team member. This is to prevent the misuse of teleportation magic’s and throwing the ball into the hoop.

The Harasser / Guardian and the Courier are allowed to score goals. The Healer is not.

Members of both teams are not allowed to physically touch their own hoop or stand in very close proximity too it. Such goal hangers will be warned by Referee’s and may subsequently incur penalties.

During play the ball may be thrown or kicked in any direction. Creative play is encouraged but some tactics could meet with the ‘disapproval’ of the Referees.

Penalties of any nature may be levied by the Referees if they deem it appropriate and arguing will only increase said punishments further. These can range from simple ball handovers, to having members of the team removed from play.

We repeat again The Referee’s decision is Final!”
